Over-the-counter medicines such as ibuprofen can be taken for relief from pain and inflammation.

Physical Therapy: Massage, heat, physical exercises, and other such treatments help in strengthening of the lower back and abdominal muscles.

Surgery: When treatments do not work, surgery is required. lumbar disc replacement, lumbar decompression, and lumbar fusion are the options.
