Lipids are a group of bio-molecules that include fats, oils, hormones and structural molecules. Primarily there are three types of lipids. They are
1. Phospholipids: Phospholipids are a type of fat molecule that make up the outer layer of our cells. They control the entry or exit of nutrients and substances.
2. Sterols: They are a group of lipids found in animals, plants and fungus. The sterol lipid present in human beings is called cholesterol. They are of two types
- High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL), also known as good cholesterol.
- Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL), also known as bad cholesterol.
3.Triglycerides: They are a type of fat molecule which provides us with energy when food is scarce. The fat around your belly is triglycerides.
