It is a lab test which analysis your feces. During stomach problems, stool analysis can reveal any bacteria, virus or germs making the patient sick.
It can also identify digestive, liver and pancreatic diseases like inflammatory bowel disease or gastroenteritis.

Symptoms requiring the test are:
- Bloody feces.
- Stomach pain.
- Vomiting or nausea.
How is Stool Examination R/M performed? 1
A stool sample can be collected at home or at the hospital. The doctor gives you a container and a spatula. While passing feces, you should store a sample in the container with the help of the spatula. (Make sure not to contaminate the sample by touching it with hands or picking it from inside of the toilet as it may add unwanted germs to it. Do not mix any tissue or soap with it.). Return the sample to the doctor.

Negative test results mean there are no harmful germs and infections in the digestive system. A positive result means there is a germ, bacteria or virus in the body causing infection or other diseases affecting the digestive system.
