The BER-EP4 test is used to investigate the presence of basal cell carcinomas which are the most common in the world with almost 105 rises reported each year.

What is BER-EP4?

BER-EP4 or the Epithelial cell adhesion molecule is done to evaluate the basal cell carcinomas.

  • BER-EP4 is a test which can distinguish and classify the different categories of the carcinomas.
  • Infiltrative basal cell carcinoma is considered as the most difficult to treat among the 3 types.
  • Using this test, basal cell carcinomas can be distinguished from squamous cell carcinoma.
  • Similarly, mesothelioma can be differentiated from pulmonary adenocarcinoma.
