5 Weeks Pregnant: Everything To Know
In the 5th week, the baby’s face starts to form - a tiny nose and eyes take shape.
Every woman is different and experiences a different journey throughout her pregnancy. In fact, the same woman might not have similar symptoms in all her pregnancies.
- The baby is about the size of a little fingernail
- Limbs are like buds, and the brain is tiny and primitive
- Development of placenta
- Requires pregnancy test and ultrasound
- In the case of twins, two gestational sacs will be detected
Usually, women learn about their pregnancy in the 5th week, which marks the start of the embryonic period. This is when the baby’s body systems and structures begin to form, such as the heart, brain, and spinal cord. Though a woman doesn’t look pregnant, pregnancy hormone levels rise rapidly, and the uterus begins to grow in size to accommodate the developing baby.
Missed period, nausea, breast changes, food cravings and/or sudden aversion to a favorite food.
